Cornerstone Association of REALTORS® Donates $127,420 to Housing Initiatives

The Cornerstone Association of REALTORS® (Cornerstone) has donated $127,420 to support housing-related initiatives in Mississauga, Burlington, Hamilton, Waterloo Region, Niagara North, Haldimand County, Norfolk County, and surrounding areas.

The donation is made possible through Cornerstone’s participation in the Ontario REALTORS Care® Foundation’s (ORCF) Every REALTOR Cares® Grant (ERCG) program. Cornerstone contributes $2 per member each month to be distributed annually to local housing initiatives within the communities our members serve. The grant recipients are shelter-related registered charities that offer individuals a haven or protection from hunger, harsh elements, abuse, disabilities, and illness.

“Our region is currently grappling with a significant housing crisis, marked by an acute shortage of shelter space and affordable housing options,” said Cornerstone Chair Julie Sergi. “In addition, the City of Mississauga has recently declared a food insecurity emergency, highlighting the urgency of these very intertwined issues. The contributions of our Cornerstone members through the ORCF will profoundly impact our most vulnerable community members. Notably, an estimated  1,400 unhoused individuals are residing in encampments across the province, underscoring the pressing need for targeted support and intervention. We are thrilled to support organizations driving change and helping those in need of a place to call home.”
