CORNERSTONE MISSISSAUGA CIVIC AWARDS
The Cornerstone Association of REALTORS® (Cornerstone) hosted the Mississauga Civic Awards Reception on May 22, 2025, at the Great Hall in the Mississauga Civic Centre. This event, held annually for 39 years, recognizes outstanding individuals in the Mississauga community for their dedicated volunteerism and acts of service. Invited guests included the Mayor, council members, MPPs, MPs, past recipients, board associations, friends and family. Attendees enjoyed light refreshments, a musical interlude, and a formal ceremony, with the Honour Guard leading the honourees to their seats.
This year, four exceptional individuals were recognized for their remarkable contributions to the Mississauga community.
Deanna Insley received the Ronald E. Sanderson Community Service Award for her unwavering dedication to volunteering for over 30 years, all while maintaining a successful real estate career. Her journey began with the Port Credit BIA, where she has tirelessly worked behind the scenes and in boardrooms, always ready to support numerous charitable initiatives.
Gil Moore was honoured with the Gordon S. Shipp Memorial Award for Citizen of the Year, acknowledging his generous sharing of time, resources, and expertise. For decades, Gil has offered equipment and personnel and has consistently supported those in need through partnerships with organizations such as Peel Children’s Aid Foundation and ErinoakKids.
Constable Phil Bowen received the Police Merit Award for his outstanding performance, exemplary service, and commitment to the community. His professionalism and dedication have profoundly impacted both the police service and the community he serves.
Firefighter Kyle Mariani was awarded Firefighter of the Year, recognized for his dedication, leadership, and selflessness. His commitment to his colleagues and the community, along with his involvement in charitable initiatives, made him a deserving candidate for this honor.
Looking ahead, the City of Mississauga will take over responsibility for this event as it reviews the Civic Recognition program.
Congratulations to all recipients and thank you for your invaluable contributions to our community!
